Hi all,

It's past time that we had a new stable release, so I propose that
we aim for a new release sometime in January (i.e. the new release will
be 17.01), with the release branch being created mid December. That will
give us a couple of months to finish off any work-in-progress and
hopefully squash some of the outstanding bugs.
